Joanne Toh, Clinical Psychologist

My name is Joanne J.W. Toh. I am a clinical psychologist with special interest in perinatal and trauma concerns.

I completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and previously worked in Perinatal and Trauma outpatient clinics in Public Mental Health.

I am passionate about helping new and expectant parents adjust to changes and/or challenges associated with pregnancy/perinatal loss/ welcoming a new baby. Coming from a multicultural background myself, I understand how cultural influences can add another layer to perinatal concerns.

I enjoy working with clients throughout different stages: pre-conception, conception, throughout pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood. I strive to provide a warm, engaging approach to therapy and help clients understand how other parts of their life can impact their current perinatal concerns.

I commonly draw from the following therapy modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Strategies and Attachment Theories. My treatment plan for each client is tailored and accommodates your treatment preferences/concerns.

I have experience helping clients with the following concerns:

• Antenatal/Postnatal Depression & Anxiety

• Birth trauma

• Perinatal OCD

• Pregnancy related stress

• Perinatal & reproductive loss

• Infertility

• Grief

• Transition to parenthood
