Telehealth Appointments

Telehealth consults are video calls done over a secure video conferencing platform.

Since the global pandemic hit in 2020, telehealth has become a popular option for healthcare appointments as it reduces your exposure to COVID-19.

For my perinatal patients, I have found Telehealth to be well accepted and convenient and I am endeavouring to continue this type of appointment, even once life has returned more to normal.

There are a range of reasons why telehealth is so convenient for my patients.

• Often you are feeling unwell during their pregnancy or are juggling young children or a newborn. This can create a barrier to getting out the house and travelling to see a health professional. By having the appointment at home, or somewhere you are comfortable, you don’t have to worry about driving, parking, baby sleep schedules and all those other factors that can be overwhelming at this time.
• It also removes the barrier of your geographical location. Even if you are in lockdown or located in a regional area or interstate, you are still able to access appropriate support.
• Being in your own environment also means that you are reducing the risk of exposing you and your baby to COVID-19.
• As well as these practical and logistical benefits, it can also help you to open up if you are in a place that is comfortable to you.
